Miscommunication
"My people are away on vacation," Thought the parrot alone in his cage. "I'm in need of good conversation. I'll find others with whom to engage." "My need for smart interaction Will surely be met on my tour. I'll meet others to serve as distraction Til my people walk back through the door."
So parrot unlocked his cage door, And flew right out into the world. Great discourse awaited for sure Once his colorful wings had unfurled. "What will other beasts say?" he had mused As he found a large cow in a field. But he started to become confused When a reluctance to talk was revealed.
"What's your name? And where are you walking? What do you like to do during the day?" Parrot tried to engage her in talking, But "Move" was all she would say.
"That cow was quite rude," thought the bird. He decided to try someone new. Not realizing he had misheard- What the cow said was actually "Moo". He looked at the ground from the sky And in the grass saw a creeping, grey cat. "I think he'll do well to supply A fun and enjoyable chat!"
"He must have some interesting tales, Adventures with friends and with foes With which he would love to regale!" So it was the cat that he chose. He landed and asked with a bow If the cat would agree to converse. But that cat would only say, "Now?" To which the bird kept replying, "Of course!"
Clearly, this could not last long. The bird thought the cat too low brow. Parrot was once again wrong Because the cat was just saying "Meow". "This is a much tougher course Than at first I was thinking it'd be," He thought before seeing the horse- "I'll bet he'll gladly talk some with me"
At talking the horse was inoperative- Parrot thought there no reason to stay. The horse was quite uncooperative, All he kept saying was "Nay." But the horse did not mean to offend- He deserved not to have such a label. The poor horse could not comprehend, Saying only the sounds he was able.
But back to the parrot in flight And his search for a good, old exchange. He hoped that he'd find more delight In trying a bird for a change. Taught owls were to be admired, He approached one that came into view. But no matter what parrot inquired, The owl responded with, "Who?"
Parrot was dismayed once more And wondered just what he should do. A new species could hold some allure, So he flew up and out towards the zoo. He soared through the zoo's open gate With the finesse of a lithe ballerina. Excited to have some debate, Parrot chose to chat up a hyena.
Parrot started with worldwide affairs, And then tried with some culture thereafter. But to parrot's sad, utter despair, The beast answered with boisterous laughter.
Parrot tried again and again, To find someone with whom he could talk. But would get sad and disheartened when He might as well talk to a rock.
The chicks said his talk was just "Cheep". The dog empathized, saying it's "Ruff". "Bah" is all that he heard from the sheep. That's when he said that he'd had enough. So to home is back where he went. Unfortunately, deep down he knew The failure of his quest had meant Alexa would just have to do.
